Emerging Industrial Biochar

Harmony Carbon provides high-quality, cost-effective carbon dioxide removal (CDR) via mobile, on-site biochar production.

Using exceptionally dry feedstock (11.5% moisture) and mobile pyrolysis, Harmony optimizes CDR quality and minimizes methane emissions from using wet biomass sources

ICROA endorsed, Harmony employs next-gen digital MRV for transparent verification.

Carbon Removal Banking Technology Innovation

Brian Ley

A pioneer in emerging carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies, Brian’s leadership at Project Vesta exemplifies his dedication to innovative climate solutions. His expertise in first-of-a-kind (FOAK) CDR deployments and technology optimization has equipped Harmony Carbon to implement advanced verification systems and uphold the highest quality standards in carbon removal projects. Through conversations with major CDR purchasers, Brian identified a critical market demand: solutions that are affordable, safe, legally risk-free, and truly permanent. This insight led to the founding of Harmony Carbon, designed to deliver the type of CDR solutions the market needs to scale and evolve beyond early-stage pilot purchases.

Energy Efficiency in Carbon Removal

Low Energy Impact

Harmony's biochar technology represents one of the most energy-efficient methods for durable carbon dioxide removal:

Energy Consumption Comparison (kWh/tCO₂)

Harmony Bone-Dry Biochar

Enhanced Weathering
100-500
Ocean Alkalinity
200-800
Industrial Biochar
500-1500
BECCS
500-2500
Direct Air Capture
1500-6000
  • Lowest energy consumption per tonne of CO₂ removed

Environmental Benefits

Our low-energy approach delivers multiple environmental benefits:

  • Carbon Negative: Process removes more CO₂ than it emits
  • Soil Enhancement: Improves water retention and nutrient availability
  • Scalable Solution: Deployable globally with minimal energy infrastructure

While other CDR methods require significant energy input, Harmony's biochar technology minimizes energy consumption while maximizing carbon removal efficiency, making it one of the most sustainable choices for large-scale CDR deployment.

How Biochar Removes Carbon

Biochar Carbon Removal Process

The Carbon Removal Journey

  1. Through photosynthesis, trees and plants naturally capture CO₂ from the atmosphere, converting it into biomass
  2. The biomass is collected and processed in a controlled environment to ensure optimal carbon preservation
  3. Using high-temperature pyrolysis (500-700°C), the biomass is transformed into biochar, locking in the carbon
  4. The biochar is carefully integrated into soil, where it will remain stable for centuries, providing permanent carbon storage
